Are meals provided onsite?

Breakfast is inclusive in the tariff. Meals are available at an additional cost of Rs 1000 per person, per day and for children at Rs 600 per child, per day.
Fish and mutton preparations shall be charged extra, at actuals which are payable in cash to the caretaker onsite. 

If there are other guests on the property, guests are requested to adjust their meal timings with the caretaker and respect the privacy of our other guests.

Guests are not allowed to access the kitchen. However, mothers of infants or small children will have limited access to boil milk or prepare their kids meals.

Yes. In case you would like the caretaker to cook a special dish, you can pay him for the actuals and cooking, cleaning fee on site, in cash.

The local dhabas that cling to the edges of valleys along the road, offer simple but delicious Pahadi fare. The region is popular for beans and pulses of all kinds, potatoes, spinach, humongous lemons and oranges as well as rhododendrons. One must not miss out on rhododendron juice, extracted from the fiery red flowers that adorn the Himalayan valleys. Rhododendron wine, an extension of the juice can also be procured from major towns such as Gwaldham. Honey, extracted from the bees that feast on the nectar of the Rhododendrons has a potent quality and is believed to have hallucinogenic properties

No, loud music is not permitted. Guests are requested to keep the noise levels within their respective rooms.

Yes, smoking is allowed but strictly not inside the home. If you wish to smoke, please do so outside in the garden/lawn area.  Alcohol consumption is permitted within limits. We do not encourage late night revelry or loud music.

Weâ€™re planning to drive down. Are the roads good? Any specific things we need to know?

While roads connecting to the property are good, guests are advised to check the road and weather conditions before leaving for a road trip. It is approximately a 8-hour drive from Dehradun and an 11-hour drive from Delhi. 

As the BRO is four-laning some parts of the road, it is advisable to leave early to avoid traffic.

How do we reach your villa by public transport?

Guests can fly to Dehradun or Rishikesh airport. From there, one can hire a priavte cab up to Tharali village in Gwaldham. Alternatively, buses to Gwaldham are available from any major town in Uttarakhand.

SaffronStays Tridiva is located on a quiet hill top, overlooking the small town of Talwari. Talwari is a good 8 hour drive from Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun. For those who wish to make a break journey, there are several towns that intersect the path - beginning from the Spiritual Rishikesh to head towards Dev Prayag, a site of religious significance as the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda become the mighty Ganga. Following the Alaknanda till Rudra Prayag, another point of confluence of the rivers Mandakini and Alaknanda, the road points you towards Karn Prayag. Following the Pindari river, originating from the Pindari Glaciers in the north-east of Uttarakhand, one hopes to finally stumble upon Talwari, on the way to the larger town of Gwaldham

Power outages occur rarely. Should you find yourself in such a situation, please call the caretaker.

Do you have a problem with mosquitoes? How do you deal with it to make our stay more comfortable?

While we do not face any mosquito problems, guests are advised to be cautious. Since our home is surrounded by greenery, mosquitoes may be present towards the evening. All our rooms have All-Out and we recommend that the windows remain shut  between 5.30 pm-7.30 pm. Please carry Odomos along or ask the caretaker for the same.

Is there a washing machine, and can guests avail the laundry facility?

There is one washing machine in the villa. But we advise against using the machine if you are staying for less than a period of 5 days since water access and supply in the Himalayas is scarce. In case of emergencies guests can use the washing machine, but the caretaker holds all rights to deny the service unless deemed fit.

Yes, stray local-breed (Bhutia) dogs can enter the premises on rare occasions. Should this happen, inform the caretaker and he will address the issue.  

Please note that the home has a pet Bhutia dog who is very friendly and quiet.  However, should you be afraid of dogs, he can be kept on a leash as well.

How do I get there?

The best way to reach Tridiva is by driving down from Dehradun or Rishikesh. A stunning 8-hour roadtrip, you'll pass three gorgeous river confluences on your way to the property: Devaprayag, Rudraprayag and Karnaprayag. Keep chasing the Alakananda river until you reach the Uma Devi Temple near Karnaprayag. From there, head towards Pindari Glacier. It's approximately a two hour journey until Tharali village where our property is nestled. 

If you'd like to stop for lunch, Rudraprayag has some nice dhabbas where you can eat.
Please note: The car has to be parked on the main road and the Home, then, is about 150 meters  uphill. A palanquin can be arranged for senior citizens, if prior notice is given.

Tridiva is amply stocked with classic board games such as Pictionary, Monopoly, Jenga, Chess that will keep the entire family entertained.  Please note that children need to be supervised around the terrace area  as the terrace does not have railings. Parents are advised to keep kids away from the terrace. If needed, there is also a basic first-aid kit, stocked with Dettol and Band-Aid etc., for minor injuries. 

While guests are not allowed to use the kitchen, mothers of infants will be permitted to prepare small meals or boil milk.

Accessing this property might be slightly difficult for senior citizens. 

To access this villa, guests have to climb a gradual slope about 300-400 m from the parking garage. Mobile senior citizens are advised to be cautious.

Kausani â€“ 50 km from Tridiva, Kausani is a hill station and Village situated in Bageshwar district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It is famous for its scenic splendour and its spectacular 300 km-wide panoramic view of Himalayan peaks like Trisul, Nanda Devi and Panchchuli. Mahatma Gandhi called this place the 'Switzerland of India',[5][6] due to similarity in landscapes.

Baijnath â€“ 32 km from Tridiva, Baijnath is a small town on the banks of the Gomti River in the Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand, India. The place is most noted for its ancient temples. 

Bageshwar â€“ 52km from Tridiva, Bageshwar Situated on the confluence of Sarju and Gomati rivers,[3][4] the city of Bageshwar gets its name from the Bagnath Temple.

Gwaldam â€“ 10 km from Tridiva, Gwaldam is a small town, the main reason for its prosperity is its being a junction of Kumaon and Garhwal and too many paths lead to different areas and villages. It is also a base camp for the trekkers who enter from Kathgodam (Nainital) railhead on trekking route to Lord Curzon Trail (Kuari Pass), Nanda Devi Raj Jat and Roopkund..  The view of Trishul is magnificent from here. Badhangari  a temple dedicated to Goddess Parvati is a beautiful day hike from TRIDIVA. Located at an altitude of 7,500ft this temple offers spectacular views of the Himalayas and the lush green forested valleys.

Agadi Mahadev a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is a beautiful day hike through thick Dedodar forests. An amazing view of Gwaldam town and lush green forested valleys.

Bagichi Bugyal â€“ An overnight trek from Tridiva. Bagichi Bugyal situated in the Garhwal Himalayas is an easy trek for beginners. The beautiful bugyal is located at an altitude of 11,500ft and offers a panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks Chaukhamba, Nanda Ghunti, Trishul, Nanda Kot among of few.The trek begins in the picturesque village of Ghes, which lies under the shadow of the Trishul on one side and Nanda Ghunti on the other. Through most of the walk up you have views of these majestic peaks and walk through thick Rhododendron and Deodar forests.
The bugyal is an idyllic camping spot, has a fresh water spring close by and two snow huts set-up by the forest department.

Bedni & Ali Bugyal â€“ A 2-3 day trek from Tridiva, Bedni Bugyal is one of the most beautiful alpine meadows located at the border of Garhwal and Kumaon in Chamoli district in the Uttarakhand state to bring the most amazing views of the mighty Trishul Parvat (7120 meters). Bedni Bugyal at an altitude of 3,354 meters above the sea level brings the varied colors and diversified splendors of nature and is considered amongst the finest altitude of grasslands in the Garhwal mountains (altitude 3354 meters) famous for wild high altitude flowers and herbs during the spring thaw, and for the splendid view of the Greater Himalayan range.    

This stipulated meadow of Bedni Bugyal brings the most fascinating trekking opportunities for the visitors to find the scenic mountains, deep valleys and lofty mountains along the most memorable sunsets and sunrises and the most enormous western flanks of Trishul and the Nanda Ghunti bringing heaven on earth. Trekking in Bedni Bugyal will take the trekkers to the highest bugyal in Uttarakhand. Bugyal that means the high altitude meadows brings the most scenic and lush surroundings all along the cushiony treks of Bedni Bugyal. Besides that, the Vaitarni Lake (also called the Bedni Kund) can also be spotted at this region which is famous for the rare Brahma Kamal flower, and is also a major stopover during the Nanda Devi Raj Jaat Yatra, a ritual procession which is held every 12 years. Roopkund -  is a  5-6 days trek from Tridiva. Roopkund, is a famous glacial lake. It is located in the Himalayas and rests at an altitude of nearly 4,800 meters. Roopkund is located in the Chamoli district of Garhwal. It is one of the best sites for trekking in Garhwal. Roopkund, which is located in the lap of Trishul massif is also known as the â€˜mystery lakeâ€™. You can find human skeletons at the bank of the lake and it is believed that they belong to the Palaeolithic age. Roopkund is a picturesque, beautiful and attractive tourist destination in the Himalayas. Located at the base of two Himalayan peaks, Trishul and Nandghungti, it attracts people who have an adventurous side to life.
